1. Cement and dry mixes
Shelf life — 6–12 months in a sealed bag. Once opened — a maximum of 7 days in a dry room. Store on pallets under a canopy, not directly on a concrete floor (it draws in moisture). The main sign of quality loss is lumps that cannot be crumbled with the fingers.
2. Mineral wool and EPS
Store in the factory packaging, on pallets, under a roof. UV degradation of EPS begins after 2 weeks in the sun — the board yellows and loses edge strength. Mineral wool fears water: a wet board is unfit for installation, and drying does not fully restore its properties.
3. Fasteners and hardware
The main risk is the loss of the marking and the batch passport when the items are transferred from the factory packaging into a common container. Store in the original packaging, keeping batches separate. Galvanized fasteners store for a year without losses; black fasteners — 6 months under a canopy, otherwise surface corrosion appears.
4. Paints and coatings
A temperature range of +5…+25°C is mandatory. Freezing of water-based paints → they delaminate and do not recover after thawing. An opened tin — no more than 30 days. For winter — a heated site cabin or an insulated container.
5. Common mistakes
- Cement on the ground under a tarpaulin: 3 weeks — and the whole bottom row is scrap.
- Mineral wool left uncovered after rain: 5 days of drying, strength 30% lower.
- Fasteners in a common box without batch separation: loss of the right to file a claim.
- Paints in an unheated container in winter: the entire delivery written off.
